JOHN WAS A LIFELONG RESIDENT OF RHEA COUNTY, A MEMBER OF THE FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH IN DAYTON. HE WAS A RETIRED TEACHER AT THE HIGH SCHOOL IN RHEA COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION. HE WAS ACTIVE IN THE TENNESSEE TEACHERS ASSOCIATION, RHEA- DAYTON TEACHERS ASSOCIATION, HE HELD MEMBERSHIP IN THE NATIONAL RIFLE ASSOCIATION AND CHATTANOOGA RIFLE CLUB. HE WAS PRECEDED IN DEATH BY HIS PARENTS, JOHN WILLIAM TOLIVER SR. AND HELEN LORRIE SMITH TOLIVER. SURVIVING ARE HIS WIFE, WALTA JEFFERS TOLIVER OF DAYTON, TWO CHILDREN, JOHN W. TOLIVER lll AND SARAH MARIE TOLIVER OF KNOXVILLE, TN. JAMES W. TOLIVER AND SARAH KATHLEEN TOLIVER OF HARKER HEIGHTS, TEXAS. ONE BROTHER; BARRY TOLIVER OF DAYTON. THREE GRANDCHILDREN, HIS CAREGIVER AND FRIEND CALVIN ROGERS. MEMORIALS MAY BE MADE TO SISKIN HOSPITAL IN CHATTANOOOGA OR THE AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY, HOSPICE OF CHATTANOOGA, OR A CHURCH OF ONES CHOICE.
